Dashboards in the Workplace
You may be familiar with DashBoards and KPIs or Key Performance Pointers- a term cherished by big advisers. You may indeed have seen those precious software packages that purport to gather crucial criteria and display them as enough speedo dials and business signals. A speedometer dial works fine in your auto- it tells you how presto you're going. It can't, still, tell you how presto you have been, or will be going, or your relative speed to other contending buses. It can not relate your speed to other aspects of your auto's performance. When you restate it to a business report, it's just a fancy way of showing ONE data point of information. ONE data point.
I believe dashboards are a superb tool for lower companies to cover the workings of the business. But I like to use small graphs that can depict a rolling 13 months history against a target.
